About us

Mission: Investing in the spirit of the next generation – the children of our community.
Vision: Creating leaders that will inspire, develop and empower future generations
Aim: Equip young children with valuable Life Skills such as team building, finding their true character, self-motivation, discipline and potential leadership skills so they can become positive role models to the future generations.

Parkwood is situated in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, South Africa where people who were forcibly removed by the Apartheid regime was placed.

Currently poverty is pegged at 63%. Unemployment plays a major role in the poverty stats being at the percentage it is now. Most of the people in Parkwood rely on the Social Grant given to them by government on a monthly basis, which ranges from R400 for children and R1700 for pensioners and the disabled. The money they receive is not enough to last for supplies of food and other needs.

This leads to the creating of negative ways of supporting themselves such as, gangsterism which leads to substance abuse and other criminal activities, violence on a daily basis. This is why interventions has to be put in place for the children so that something positive can happen and to keep the children’s minds off the fact that they might not have a plate of food at night.

GENESIS will not be able to alleviate poverty but it is a vehicle for change. Our vision is to inspire, develop and empower future generations.  Our aim is to reach out to children as young as 8 years old and up and create community orchestra and a community choir of the children who participates in the programmes we have to offer. We also want to find the hidden talents at a young age so that once they have reached a certain age they are able to recognise their true and full potential. With this we will also be enhancing their personal qualities and so that they can take ownership in establishing various local bands or groups.
